Creed
Amidst all the reflection on what happened yesterday and in similar horrific acts (Columbine, Paducah, etc.), the following poem by Steve Turner came to mind. So, I offer it today.

“Creed”
by Steve Turner
This is the creed I have written on behalf of all us.
We believe in Marxfreudanddarwin
We believe everything is OK
as long as you don’t hurt anyone,
to the best of your definition of hurt,
and to the best of your knowledge.
We believe in sex before, during, and after marriage.
We believe in the therapy of sin.
We believe that adultery is fun.
We believe that sodomy is OK.
We believe that taboos are taboo.
We believe that everything is getting better
despite evidence to the contrary.
The evidence must be investigated
And you can prove anything with evidence.
We believe there’s something in
horoscopes, UFO’s and bent spoons;
Jesus was a good man
just like Buddha, Mohammed, and ourselves.
He was a good moral teacher
although we think His good morals were bad.
We believe that all religions are basically the same–
at least the one that we read was.
They all believe in love and goodness.
They only differ on matters of
creation, sin, heaven, hell, God, and salvation.
We believe that after death comes the Nothing
Because when you ask the dead what happens they say nothing.
If death is not the end, if the dead have lied,
then it’s compulsory heaven for all
excepting perhaps Hitler, Stalin, and Genghis Khan.
We believe in Masters and Johnson.
What’s selected is average.
What’s average is normal.
What’s normal is good.
We believe in total disarmament.
We believe there are direct links between warfare and bloodshed.
Americans should beat their guns into tractors
and the Russians would be sure to follow.
We believe that man is essentially good.
It’s only his behavior that lets him down.
This is the fault of society.
Society is the fault of conditions.
Conditions are the fault of society.
We believe that each man must find the truth that is right for him.
Reality will adapt accordingly.
The universe will readjust.
History will alter.
We believe that there is no absolute truth
excepting the truth that there is no absolute truth.
We believe in the rejection of creeds,
and the flowering of individual thought.
“Chance” a post-script
If chance be the Father of all flesh,
disaster is his rainbow in the sky,
and when you hear
State of Emergency!
Sniper Kills Ten!
Troops on Rampage!
Whites go Looting!
Bomb Blasts School!
It is but the sound of man worshiping his maker.

WOW = incredible poem - one I’ve not seen before even in emails (which is right where its going now LOL). SO true tho sadly - I was just commenting elsewhere that there’s a huge sense of anger amongst the youth of today - most don’t even know why they’re angry, but it shows in their rhetoric and behaviour. Satan’s waging all out war on our youth, and sadly sometimes appears to be winning as those who’re supposed to protect them become more concerned with other worldly issues I suspect many of the parents of youth who go off the rails badly had their children quite young or under poor circumstances. God provided the biblical standard for a reason, and if mankind could only ever have the sense to see that, I would pretty much guarantee that 2/3 of the youth related crime these days would never have happened. As mankind continues to take God out of the equation He continues to remove His protection from their lives yet further, and yet He equally continues to provide more opportunities than ever for those who truly do desire to seek Him to find Him. Sadly though both history and prophecy state that the current situation is only going to get a LOT worse yet before man is ever likely to stop and some will eventually seek their Maker.
C.S. Lewis said: “There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, “Thy will be done, and those to whom God says, “All right then, have it your way.” Blessings, TKR
His maker? More like himself.
A very telling poem, showing explicitly how unmoral and misguided the world is now.
Dostoevski wrote: “If there is no God, then everything is permitted.” An email I received last week (not in connection with the tragedy at Virginia Tech) went though a list of characteristics of our society, such ideas surfaced as “We have banned God and religion from our public life and our schools, and then we wonder why there is violence in the schools or why people behave in immoral ways”…the whole piece was more detailed and more eloquent. The reflection you posted brought these thoughts to mind.
Fr John
About 3 years ago I dropped into a black hole – four months of absolute terror. I wanted to end my life, but somehow [Holy Spirit], I reached out to a friend who took me to hospital. I had three visits [hospital] in four months – I actually thought I was in hell. I imagine I was going through some sort of metamorphosis [mental, physical & spiritual]. I had been seeing a therapist [1994] on a regular basis, up until this point in time. I actually thought I would be locked away – but the hospital staffs were very supportive [I had no control over my process]. I was released from hospital 16th September 1994, but my fear, pain & shame had only subsided a little. I remember this particular morning waking up [home] & my process would start up again [fear, pain, & shame]. No one could help me, not even my therapist [I was terrified]. I asked Jesus Christ to have mercy on me & forgive me my sins. Slowly, all my fear has dissipated & I believe Jesus delivered me from my “psychological prison.” I am a practicing Catholic & the Holy Spirit is my friend & strength; every day since then has been a joy & blessing. I deserve to go to hell for the life I have led, but Jesus through His sacrifice on the cross, delivered me from my inequities. John 3: 8, John 15: 26, are verses I can relate to, organically. He’s a real person who is with me all the time. I have so much joy & peace in my life, today, after a childhood spent in orphanages [England & Australia]. God LOVES me so much. Fear, pain, & shame, are no longer my constant companions. I just wanted to share my experience with you [Luke 8: 16 – 17].
Peace Be With You
Micky
